In a historic move towards the betterment of education in government schools, The HRD ministry has proposed Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) in the government school system. The implementation of this proposal will not only put an end to the endless complains about poor quality of education, poor administrative and hygienic condition in government schools, but also give those lakhs of children who study in government schools an opportunity to receive quality education that is on par with private schools.

CBSE board reforms set to hone students’ skills

The grading system for the CBSE board is all set to be revamped in an attempt to hone the specific skills of individual students. In this direction, a new system of evaluation that supports Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) based on grades has been approved by the CBSE board. The new grading system comprises of formative and summative assessment of the student, to be done over two terms- during the yearlong academic calendar.

HRD minister Kapil Sibal’s idea of core curriculum for science and maths at secondary and higher secondary levels across all education board has received a nod from the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE).
 
According to the suggested educational reforms, the class X option of grading system instead of CBSE will be available only to students who will continue in the same school in class XI. With the inauguration of the Gayatri Devi Park for special children Near Navrang Theatre, Rajajinagar 2nd Block, Bangalore got its second park designed for mentally and physically challenged children. The park was inaugurated by Rajajinagar MLA and urban development minister S.Suresh Kumar on the 26th of August.

With the proposed implementation of UID into the Right to Education policy, another purpose of the Unique Identity Number project was realized. The HRD ministry expects UID numbers to support the new legalization of free and compulsory education to the children in the age group of 6 to 14.

Free Education Bill tabled by Indian Parliament

The Indian Parliament on July 20 has passed a landmark education bill that guarantees free and compulsory education for children aged between six and fourteen.  This move by the government of India holds promise of educating a large percentage of young India.

The government appointed committee to formulate a policy regulating admission and capitation fees and to ensure issues of equity and social justice are addressed with respect to admission to private schools in Karnataka (Pre-primary to PUC) will submit its report by end of Jan, 2008.
This will help make admissions to private educational institutions transparent.
