CABE gives a nod to educational reforms suggested by Sibal
HRD minister Kapil Sibal’s idea of core curriculum for science and maths at secondary and higher secondary levels across all education board has received a nod from the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE).
According to the suggested educational reforms, the class X option of grading system instead of CBSE will be available only to students who will continue in the same school in class XI. Implementation of this reform will mean that instead of board examinations, greater stress will be placed on a comprehensive and continuous system of education and continuous system of evaluation which ensures that education standards do not suffer.
Sibal also suggested the novel way of depoliticizing appointment of vice- chancellors in central universities. In this regard, he has proposed that a collegium of Nobel laureates and prominent educationists suggest names for the post of vice-chancellor.
Although CABE approved the ministry’s proposal for an autonomous overarching authority for higher education, not all the States across the country have expressed for implementation of these reforms. How CABE seeks to address to opposition from some states is still unclear.
If you are looking forward for an educational reformation like this, express your support and opinions regarding the matter here.
